About Silanem

Sign language empowerment( SILANEM) was founded by Mr. Richmond Baidoo in 2018 to support deaf people through sign language training and interpretation. He started training about (20) people at the church of Christ campus ministry Tarkwa Silanem was officially registered as sole proprietor business in 2019 in order to extend it's sign language services to the general public targeting the churches, media personnel, teachers, police officers, court workers amongst others. We have since conducted sign language training for couple of people within the Tarkwa and Nsuaem Municipality. In 2021 Silanem added french, Spanish, English, and music training to it's business portfolio to reach different interest. The management of SILANEM also introduced sign language education in 2021 at private basic schools within the Municipality to realize the vision of an inclusive society in the near future. Currently, there are eight(8) basic schools enjoying our sign language training on weekly basis. The maiden sign language competition in the country amongst basic schools was organized by SILANEM in collaboration with Inclusive Tech Group at UMAT Mini Auditorium in October 2022..
