WELCOME TO SILANEM
We strive to provide highest quality education, and break the Communication barriers
A BETTER PLACE TO LEARN
Sign language has been used for centuries as a means of communication for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The earliest known record of sign language dates back to ancient Greece, where philosopher Socrates was said to communicate with his students using hand gestures. In the 18th century, Frenchman Charles Michel de l'Épée developed a system of sign language that he called "methodical signs." This system was based on the signs used by the deaf community in Paris at the time, and it became widely used throughout Europe. In the United States, sign language was first introduced in the early 19th century by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, who founded the first school for the deaf in Hartford, Connecticut. Gallaudet traveled to Europe to learn about sign language and brought back a French sign language teacher named Laurent Clerc to help him establish the school. Over time, different sign languages developed in different countries and regions. American Sign Language (ASL) is one of the most widely used sign languages in North America, while British Sign Language (BSL) is used in the United Kingdom and Australian Sign Language (Auslan) is used in Australia. Today, sign language is recognized as a fully-fledged language with its own grammar and syntax. It continues to be an important means of communication for millions of people around the world. 🤟

Concerning the effectiveness of Sign language.
It has given the learners exposure. Built their confidence level.
Some learners are also smart right now as compared to the initial stage
Sign Language as a means of communication was introduced in my school two years ago and it has indeed helped the kids to communicate with the deaf community.
In the Genesis of the sign language in my school was a lot of controversies but after proper explanation of the importance of sign language a lot of people are willing to learn since there are a lot of people we meet who have this challenge in this part of our world.. The kids make signing enjoyable for me as a patron to learn too.
Thanks to SILANEM for this great initiative......
